Welcome to 5th Grade
My name is Sarah Grisez, and I will be teaching 5th grade this year. Although this is my first year coming to St. Peter’s as a teacher, I spent 9 wonderful years here as a student. I am very excited to come back to my roots and have a classroom of my own!
I have spent over a year teaching junior high, so I understand how important the 5th grade year is in preparing the students for the transition. I will be encouraging more independence and responsibility of the students.
Please feel free to contact me at any time during the school year at school5@stpeterswaldorf.org, or by calling the school. I look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and refreshing holiday break! Time sure is flying by! The 2nd quarter ends next week, so please keep reading and taking AR quizzes. There is no such thing as too many!
The students have been busy since we returned to school. We are wrapping up Science this quarter with a chapter on cells. We are very intrigued by how small they are and how they work! We will also be continuing the DARE program, though the end will be coming soon.
Look for a letter to go home soon regarding the new homework policy. Middle school will be here before we all know it, and the students must be prepared for the challenging road ahead. Please remember that Mass is every Wednesday (except early dismissal days) and the students need to wear their dress uniforms. Also, please send hats, gloves, scarves, etc for recess as we will surely be having some cold days ahead.

We’ve been very busy in the 5th grade! Last week we completed our first Accelerated Math session, and it went very well. We will continue using the program once a week. Please remember that students are required to take a minimum of two Accelerated Reader quizzes before the end of the quarter. These will be part of the Reading grade. Also, watch for a note to go home sometime next week regarding conferences in November. We’re looking forward to Halloween in a couple of weeks, and thank you for all of your efforts in helping with the party. I appreciate it! Keep smiling J

We’re off to a great start in the 5th grade! It’s been an adjustment being back at school, but the students are already working hard. Please ensure that your child’s textbooks and workbooks are covered as soon as possible.
Homework is posted online daily but the students also write the assignments down in their homework planners. I have set high expectations for 5th grade as preparation for middle school. One of my requirements is that all work is shown on the math homework. Please double-check your child’s homework assignments and make sure he or she is showing all work. As always, feel free to email me if you have any questions. Classroom procedures will be discussed further at back to school night on Monday, September 19th at 7:00 P.M.
