Welcome to 7th Grade
Welcome! I'm Judy Schlumbrect and I teach Religion and Social Studies in St. Peter's Middle School. I am also the 7th grade homeroom teacher. This teacher is ready to "leap" into another fabulous and rewarding school year. I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, August 20th when you drop off your school supplies.

Happy New Year!
The end of the second quarter is winding down these next two weeks. The upcoming third quarter, which starts on January 16th, will include the following for the middle school students:
6th Grade:
Religion: We will continue with the Old Testament study of Samuel to David to Solomon.
Social Studies: We will continue with their study of the Latin American nations. The 6th graders will also be producing a PowerPoint presentation on the “ABC’s of Culture” on a specific Latin American country. The majority of this work will be done here at school, with basic research done at home.
7th Grade:
Religion: We will complete their course of study on the New Testament. Once completed the 7th grade will transition to their other religion book entitled “Creed: A Course on Catholic Belief.” The 7th graders will also be researching their patron saint for next year’s reception of Confirmation.
Social Studies: We will continue their study of the geography of Europe. This also includes a study of the Scandinavian countries. After Europe the 7th graders will head to North African and Southwest Asia in their studies.
8th Grade:
Religion: We will continue to study the history of the Church for the majority of the 3rd quarter. The 8th graders will also be interviewing their sponsors soon for their paper; then they will compose their letter to Cardinal Wuerhl stating what they did individually for their sacrificial giving of time in preparation for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. DON’T FORGET: The 8th graders will be participating in the March for Life Mass and Rally on Monday, January 23rd.
Social Studies: We will be quite busy. The students will be studying the Civil War. In conjunction with English they will be working on their Civil War project for the two subjects. The 8th graders will be studying the Civil War and also working on their PowerPoint presentations on the Civil War.
Lent will begin on Wednesday, February 22nd. All middle school students will be praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy during Lent and of course, attend Stations of the Cross on Fridays with the whole school.

6th Grade:
Social Studies: Began study of Canada. Students will learn not only the history but also the geography of Canada. They are also creating their own totem poles!
Religion: Old Testament study of man's struggle with sin and God promising to send a Savior. God's covenant made with Noah.
7th Grade:
Religion: New Testament study of Jesus was a Jew; and His belonging to a people rich with a history and religious heritage.
Social Studies: Growth of new ideas beginning with the Renaissance; traders, explorers, colonists; the Age of Revolution and the Russian Empire. Seventh grade is also continuing their study of the geography of Europe.
8th Grade:
Religion: Study of Church history from A.D. 1046 - 1305; success of friars improving the church; failure of Crusades; and expression of faith in the High Middle Ages.
Social Studies: Early industry and inventions; plantations & spread of slavery; tensions growing between North & South; the Age of Jackson. Eighth grade is also continuing their study of the geographic features of the United States.
