Subject: Eragon by Christopher Paolini

This summer, I read the novel Eragon by Christopher Paolini. This is the stunning quest of a character named Eragon, a simple farm boy. Eragon lives in the land of Alagaesia, which is ruled by an evil king named Galbatorix. However, when Eragon encounters a bright blue stone, his simple life vanishes and he is suddenly turned into the king’s ultimate foe. With the king’s henchmen lurking at every corner, Eragon must embark on a perilous expedition across Alagaesia. With tragedy, adventure, and excitement, Eragon is an exciting journey. I recommend this book for readers who like action and adventure. I also recommend that you read the sequels: Eldest, Brisingr, and Inheritance. You do not want to miss these action-filled novels.

Subject: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

This summer I read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This is a mature story about two children whose father is a lawyer and is given a case on a black man that is charged with rape. The book is set in the 1930’s, so it old timed with no electronics such as TVs, radios, or cellphones. The town they live in in Maycomb, Alabama, so there is a strong influence of racism. The main character was Scout who is the youngest of the two children. Her character is strong and independent and she never gave up. This made her character veyr likable because she stood up for what was right and always stuck up for her father. She stuck up for him because everyone was upset that her father was defending a black man, so they made fun of him and were very disrespectful to him. The story teaches you to stand up for what is right and to respect everyone despite the color of their skin. I would recommend this to people who can handle mature content and adult them. Other than that, it was a great book.

Subject: The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan ~

One of the books I read over the summer was "The Lost Hero" by Rick Riordan. This book is a fantasy-adventure story based on Greek and Roman mythology in a modern day setting. The story is about three demigod friends, Jason, Piper and Leo who have to battle wind spirits, giants and other ancient beings to rescue Piper's mortal father and Hera. They get help from other people and gods on their adventures. This story shows that when people work together, they are able to overcome great obsticles. This book is awesome! I would definitely recommend reading this book, especially to anyone who liked the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series.

Subject: The Watsons Go To Birmingham -1963

One of the many books that I read over the summer was “The Wastons go to Birmingham-1963” by Christopher Paul Curtis. This book has many realistic events that partake in the story. The narrator, Kenny, has a very respectable yet funny perspective towards his life and the environment he is surrounded by. While reading this book, which I highly recommend you do, you will feel like he is just a friend telling you about a visit he took to an interesting place. Kenny, who is ten years old, lives in Flint, Michigan and doesn’t really get along with his 13 year old, juvenile delinquent brother, Byron or his know it all younger sister, Joetta or Joey. This is about a regular African American family that goes through many events that eventually make them decide to take a visit to Birmingham, Alabama. In Alabama, the family acts totally different when in a different environment. I firmly, recommend that people that like to laugh, ages 8 and up should read this book.

Subject: Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

This summer, i read Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. What a wonderful book!
This book is about a boy named Leo Borlock, and a girl named Stargirl. Stargirl is like no other, different in every way, but when she suddenly becomes popular, and then unpopular, will she change for others? For the people she loves, or stay true to herself?
I would recommend that everyone read this book, it taught me one of the most important life lessons a book can teach.

Subject: The Outsiders by S.E Hinton

Over the summer I read The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. This book is a very thrilling and interesting book. This book is about a boy named Ponyboy, who dreadfully lost his parents to a car accident. His two older brother’s names were Sodapop and Darrel, and they take care of him. They are all part of a gang called the “Greasers.” The Greasers are a gang of very poor kids, who have a rival group called the Socs. The Soc’s are a group of rich, snotty people who like to terrorize the Greasers. Ponyboy has two best friends who would do anything for him their names are Johnny and Two-Bit. One day Ponyboy gets very upset and runs away from home, and Johnny goes with him. That night as their running away Johnny and Ponyboy do something that will change their lives forever. I would recommend people to read The Outsiders because it's a very amazing book, you’ll be in love with it.(:

Subject: Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

The book that i read over the summer was "Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli. This book is about this high school called Mica High. Everyone there says that they have the same personalities. Then this girl named Stargirl comes to Mica High. She is not like the others. She is very unique and unusaul and dresses very differently then everyone else. She plays the ukelee and sings happy birthday if it's your birthday. She has a pet rat named Chico and she plays with it. She sits by herself at lunch. At Mica High nobody likes Stargirl. Nobody talks to her. So then later in the book she becomes friends with some people. Then she becomes insanely popular and becomes a cheerleader. So everyone wants to be friends with her. If you want to know the rest then you have to get the book and start reading away because trust me you will like it. So yes i do recommend this book for anybody.

Subject: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas : John Boyne

This summer the book that I read was " The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" by John Boyne. This book is about a spoiled rich kid named Bruno that is forced to go to a place called Out-With. There he meets his future best friend, Shmuel. Shmuel is a Jew that has been imprisoned at Out-With Concentration Camp. He helped Bruno overcome his bratty attitude by telling Bruno all the troubles he had experienced in his life. This book reminds me of all the injustices that were done to not only the Jews but the other people that madman, Hitler, thought were impure. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves history like me.

Subject: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas : John Boyne

This summer I read the The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. It was a book about a boy named Bruno and he lives in Berlin a place that he absolutely adores. Then one day he comes home and his mother tells him that they are moving to a place called "Out-With". Which Bruno does not like at all because it does not have the same features as his house in Berlin but after a while he learns to adapt to it and meets a lot of new people in his new home. I personally thought the book was o.k. because it had its moments but it was also really boring and depressing. I would recommend this book to people who like books about adventure and depressing endings.

Over the summer I read The boy in the Striped Pajamas. It was about a German boy named Bruno, who moved to a place named out-with from Berlin. And a Jewish boy named Shmuel, who lives at a concentration camp. They one day meet when Bruno was bored so he decided to go exploring. He finds Shmuel at the fence of the camp and they become quick friends. Bruno and Shmuel have no idea what is going on in the world at the time. They had no idea that the Jews were being killed. They were just having fun. I thought it was an “ok” book. Personally I didn’t like it. It was a very boring book until the end.

At the beginning of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas you meet a boy named Bruno who lives in Berlin. He is very content with his life at home until he comes home one day to his maid packing up bags in his room. Now he must adjust to life in his new home "Out-With." Subject: Timothy of the Cay by Theodore Taylor

This summer I read Timothy of the Cay the sequel to The Cay by Theodore Taylor. I really liked The Cay so I thought I would enjoy this book too and I did. This book was just a little hard to understand because half of the book was written in Timothy's dialect and the other half in Phillips. This book is about how a boy named Phillip lost his eyesight (that happened in The Cay) and he is determined to get it back. He goes to many doctors to see if they can help. I also learned from reading this story how Timothy came to sail the seas when he was just a young bahss. One day Timothy gets a job on a boat and is very excited but for some reason he does not go. To find out what else happens read the book. As much as my class loved The Cay, they will be glad to read this book.

Over the summer I read The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt. This was a very humorous story about a twelve year old boy, Holling Hoodhood who has to stay after school with his teacher, Mrs.Baker every Wednesday. The story teaches about making your own choices, not having everyone tell you what to do. I would highly recommend this book to all of my friends. This book was one of the top 10 books I have ever read.

Subject: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by: John Boyne

Over the summer I read many books and out of those books I chose a book called The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. This book is about a nine-year old boy named Bruno who lives in Berlin during World War 2. Since his father has high rankings in the milatary as a commandent at a concentration camp know he has to move to a place called "Out-With." Know Bruno and his family have to leave behind their whole life and memeories back in Berlin. Once he gets there he now has to deal with being homesick, lonely, and having no adventure. Until he meets at a fence. I guess you have to read it to believe it.

I recomend this book for people in middle school and people who like historical fiction. But for people like me who don't like historical fiction should still read it because I think it really caputured what happened in that time and period.

Subject: The Clone Codes by The Mckissacks

Over the summer I read The Clone Codes by The Mckissacks. The story is about young girl named Leanna, who lives a normal life until her mother is arrested for being part of a rebel group known as"the Liberty Bell Movement". They're an organization that fights for the freedom of clones and cyborgs, who are treated as nothing more than slaves, and now she is on the run because the government believes she is part of the organization also. This book had potential but instead it disappointed me. It is a relatively short book, and it wastes its time with it by not moving the story along and instead tries to focus more on how cruel the government is. The story is very predictable so it lacks suspense and makes the story very boring. The only good thing about the book are the chase/fight scenes and those are pretty short. Overall I give this book a 6/10

Subject: The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin

Over the summer I read The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. The Westing Game is a book about 14 heirs competing to figure out who killed Sam Westing. Whoever figures out who killed him will win his money. Supposedly they all are related to him somehow, so that means one of his own relatives has killed him. The beginning was hard to get interested in, but I kept reading, and found it very interesting. You'll be glad if you do the same and keep reading. This book has many twists and turns, and the end will surely surprise you. I thought it was a very good book, and I would recommend it to you all.

Subject: The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton

Want to read a thrilling, advenrutous, and spine-tingling book? I suggest the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I read it over the summer and I have never enjoyed a book more. It was about a young man named Ponyboy. He was in a gang called the Greasers. Now the Greasers were part of the poorer section of Tulsa, Oklahoma. There were constantly at odds with a gang whose members were called Socs. Socs is short for socials. The Greasers were called Greasers because they always wore grease in their hair and just looked generally dirty. The book had a lot of fighting and criminalo activity in it making it very suspenseful. There was never a dull moment. Read it! You'll be glad you did! "I know I was"!

Subject: Flip, by David Lubar

This summer, I read Flip by David Lubar. I do not recommend this book to just anyone. I would only recommend this book to someone who likes science ficion. Personally, I am not a fan of science fiction. I thought this book was okay, but I think someone who likes science fiction would enjoy this book more than I did. Flip is a story about a boy named Ryan with a twin sister named Taylor, who are completely opposite of eachother. Ryan never completes anything he does and does not succeed in school. However, Taylor finishes everything she does and goes as far as she possibly can to achieve perfection in whatever she does. In the story, Ryan finds disks that he thinks are from aliens. When Ryan flips one of the disks, he inherits the traits and personality of celebrities or icons of the past. When Ryan flips the disks, he has no control of his actions. Taylor tries to keep Ryan out of trouble and keep the disks a secret, but how far does she have to go to do this? Does she keep Ryan out of trouble or does Ryan get into a lot of trouble beause others find out? I guess you will have to read the book.

Subject: The Adoration of Jenna Fox

There were many novels i could have read over the summer but i chose to read The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson. The book i read is about a 17 year old teenager named Jenna Fox who went to a house party with her friends Kara and Locke. But then a fight broke out and they decided to leave quickly resulting in a horrifying accident involving all three passengers. This left Jenna with memory lost and in a coma for a year and her two friend’s conditions unknown. She would soon learn she's actually not a 100% Jenna Fox. I would not recommend this book to just anyone you have to really be able to understand Jenna’s emotions and how she’s learning the truth about herself. I adore this book and i hope who ever picks up this book loves it as much as i do. Stay poppy bye!!!
