Pre-Kindergarten Program

The St. Peter’s Pre-K is a full day program that follows the normal school day schedule 9:10 a.m. until 3:40 p.m. The class is comprised of 20 children with one certified teacher and one instructional assistant.

We begin our day by unpacking and working on various table top activities until 9:10 a.m. when we officially begin our school day with morning prayers and school announcements by the Storm Anchor Crew.  After announcements we continue our school day by engaging in a variety of activities focusing on an array of subjects: circle time (review of the months of the year, days of the week, current date, current year, seasons, shapes, weather, jobs, patterns, and sight words), phonemic awareness (letters and sounds), literature, religion, science, math, social studies, health, cooking and art.  Students engage in “specials” once every day for 30 minutes. The “specials” include computer, library, and PE.

We begin our afternoon with a 30 minute recess. After recess, we have a 30 minute lunch before our rest time. Every student has their own rest mat that is used daily from about 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. Once rest time is over, students pack-up their backpacks and move to their assigned development center.

Developmental centers are extremely important for this age because students are able to work with their peers on socialization, team building, problem solving, communication, and having fun! If you have specific questions regarding the Pre-K program, please email Ms. Ward at schoolPK@stpeterswaldorf.org.
