Welcome to the Spanish Classroom

Bienvenidos al salon de español !

Hola!   Mi nombre es Dr. Driscoll.  Tengo el placer de enseñar español este ano.

In this year’s the Spanish classes we focus on the following areas:

1.)    Increasing Spanish vocabulary.

2.)    Conversational Spanish.  Students apply what they learn about nouns, verbs, adverbs, pronouns, adjectives, preposition, etc.

in play-acting situations such as going shopping, eating in a  restaurant, at the playground, in the doctor’s office, etc.

3.)    Developing their listening skills in a classroom language audio lab

4.)  Using a form of “immersion” with an interactive audio-visual

program

5.)   Gaining a deeper understanding of the cultures and traditions of

the Spanish Speaking World (El Mundo Hispanohablante) through songs, dance, and stories.

6.)  Using the Spanish language beyond the classroom.  The

4th,5th,6th; 7th, and 8th graders are preparing for a make-believe

trip to Madrid, Spain to attend a “Dia del Mercado”.

With the assistance of parents who are native speakers of

the Spanish language acting as vendors, the students will

practice their listening and speaking skills in a fun and

meaningful experience.

7.)  Listening to short stories in Spanish: “El Patito Feo”;

“Mi Sombrero”; “Los tres Cerditos”…..etc.

8.)  Singing songs: “De Colores”; “La araña pequeñita”…etc.
